In 2016, Padrón launched its Black Series with the José O. Padrón 89 Birthday Blend, initially exclusive to Smoke Inn and later released as the Padrón Black No. 89 to TAA retailers. Subsequent Padrón Black cigars have been featured in CRA Freedom Samplers since 2019, supporting the organization's legal efforts against the FDA. At the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, Padrón unveiled the Black PB-97, a torpedo vitola offered in both natural and maduro wrappers, available only to event attendees. This Nicaraguan puro, according to Jorge Padrón, slots between the Serie 1926 and Family Reserve lines in terms of strength.
